Hi folks

I have two decompression valves, one long one short. I want to fit the black plastic hose nipple off the long one onto the short one as it is damaged. How do I get it off without breaking it?

And how are they held in place?

The short one has the broken nipple and falls in and out easily.

Thanks

Your chances of getting that bit out of and into a sealed decomp will be slim.

Just keep the long one.

Thats meant to be an air tight seal around that plastic bit.

Hi Bob, the decomp can be repaired, therefore it must come apart. The repair kit is available through the Online Store, and is priced at $ 4.93 wink

Darryl, only some are rebuildable, a lot of them on powertorques are sealed units. I have had some luck in replacing the little plastic elbows with another one from another unservicable unit, however reults have not been that great.

A brand new decompressor is not cheap for backyard repair jobs but you may need to buy a new one if the long decompression valve is no good to you in its application, I am lucky enough to have a mountain of spares for my own use and havent had to buy one yet.

Thanks Joe for that, I didn't realize that some were sealed units, and some not. I agree that $31.00 is not cheap for a backyard repair, but if that is the only prob with the machine, it maybe cheap in the long run; rather than spend time on a maybe dodgy repair. You are lucky to have a mountain of spares, mate. grin

Hi fellas thanks for the input. Both of these units are sealed. Unfortunately the long unit fouls the carb plus I'm not sure what the difference is and if you can interchange them (long for short). I would normally be very happy to purchase from the online store but I am short for time.

Hi Aldot, No probs mate, as per your post "Straight Fueled Victa 160" I see that you've purchased the new valve and your machine is up and running, this thread is now complete, so I will now close it.

For the information of members, the long decomp valve one is for the full crank engine and the short one is for the Power-Torque.

Best Wishes,
cheers2
