I have been given a Victa series 70, 2 stroke. Its had quite a working life, and has worked fine for a long time, but now wont start (It runs for about ten seconds then dies). Spark plug is sparking. I may have overdosed the oil ratio in the fuel at one time. Can Bruce provide some trouble shooting assistance please? Or can I get some drawings so I can check that all the parts are working correctly?

As its done a lot of work, sounds as if the rings are worn, a new set of rings could restore power.

I need a bit more information on the machine.
1. Check the bottom oil seal to see if you have a leak.
2. John's suggestion could be corret as well with the worn rings.
3. Make sure that the petrol/fuel is fresh as it does go off.
4. Also the condensor could be faulty even if you are getting good spark.
5. Check to see what ring gap you have through the exhaust port by pushing the rings in.
