I've got a second hand carby to replace mine that's broken however I think the replacement one is blocked there's buckets of fuel spewing into the intake side of the carby but the area which squirts to the piston is dry i know you can buy a carby rebuild kit but what's the procedure involved and steps?
Also should the motor start first pull? The motor runs, doesn't smoke just is an absolute jerk to actually start (ie manually have to place fuel in the cylinder fir it to get going, all I can put that down to is the carby requiring rebuilding though)

Hi oldmatty, the Series 80 is a very strong full crank engine fitted with the G4 carby. The manual for the G4 is located in Parts Lists and Manuals; as is a manual for the Victa Tilt-A-Cut with the Series 80 engine. These may come in handy if you plan to disassemble the carby, and identify parts if needed. I have an identical machine; fuel on, one press on the primer bulb, throttle set to "Cold Start"....one pull and away she goes!

I cant seem to get access to that area? I already have done the subscription thing and have access to the Edger manuals and already have the tilt a cut manual on hand but it doesn't have alot of information on the carby, only a small diagram showing what is what and the order of the components. how can i specifically get the g4 carby manual that your speaking of? thanks

Should it start on the first pull.... This may sound hard to belive but if in good running condition with the correct priming, procedure, etc I belive that any victa 2 stroke sshould start on the first pull. every machine I sell does after a good carby clean, most times though you do need a few new bits and peices. If not the first pull, the second. But on the first it will give an indication of wanting to go.
With the carby, the only bits that should need replacing are inlet manifold O-rings, (done just because you do, if you dont you can chase a problem forever) a new o-ring on the primer face and the little stop pin rubber (ive found pushing it in with a 5mm allen key T handle is the easiest). My local mower shop only sell the full long rubbers, not sure what model is meant to use what, i have had to cut them short twice to get the stop wires to work right.
As far as the rest of the carb goes, i like a dead mower with a complete carb still on the motor. Strip it down, wash all the bits up in Kerro, except for the big rubber digafram (had one swell once), just clean it with a rag. Blow everything off with compressed air and blow through the airways (carb body, primer face and the vac port on the back cover) and wipe everything dry with a rag. Inspect everything, checking for cracks and splits and where things might have rubbed through, especially the digafram cover. Put it back together. If its got the white multi poppet in it, set it to 'C' before you put it back on the motor.
Then bolt the air cleaner to the handle and sit the carb in near where its meant to be. Put the stop pins in. Spark plug out with the lead on and check for spark and no spark. Then put the carb on. Probably no so much an issue as if i remember right the tilt a cut has the carb upside down. But on the mowers its easier to get the pins in with the carb off.
Ive found it easier to get the carbs back on if you wipe a bit of oil around the o-ring on the inlet.
I would say that the issue you are having is that its flooding. My mower was doing that months back just after i put a new primer face on it. Was a runt of the thing to get started. Once it was running it went great. Knowing a bit more about them now i would assume that one way to check that would be to remove the main jet while holding the primer face on. The O-ring will seal it but with the jet out fuel would spill out the centre hole.
Cheers, Bob.

Thanks very much for the help! I think it wasn't working due to the replacement carb coming off a mower and being fitted to the tilt a cut I wasn't aware the float was upside down at the time, needless to say it probably would have then started without being rebuilt.
Anyhow stripped it down, cleaned it all, blew out the jet, new orings, new float pin needle, back together, started first pull.
I reckon the hardest bit of the job was getting the cable to lock into the carby body and now jump out all the time!
Working well now though and started first pull so I was pretty impressed

Hi oldmatty, Glad to see that you got it all sorted and it starts first pull. As this thread is complete, I will lock it.
