Hi guys I have just replaced my 13hp Briggs with a Loncin 452cc (16hp?) engine on my Husqvarna LTH130 (circa 1998). The old engine was going to cost about the same to rebuild (hone or rebore, piston, rings, valves, valve guides, etc) as the new Engine cost. Plus my local shop didn't want to rebuild it. The New Engine cost me $680.00 with 2 years warranty from my local Mower shop.

Anyway, this new engine comes with a fuel pump, my old one was gravity feed. I'm told I don't need to use the Fuel Pump? Is that correct?

Now for the other problem I need help with, the wiring.
This new engine has 2 wires just like the old Briggs.

But this new engine also has 2 wires but they are a Red and a Black.
The Black is listed as Stopping Engine Isolators wire, Black.
The Red is listed as DC (14.5 ~ 15.0V) Wire Red.

Is that the same as the red wire on the briggs from the alternator with the diode in it. Used to charge them battery?
Does that get connected where the old one went, back to the battery?

I might also need help with the throttle & choke hook up as soon as I work out how to add pictures here again.

Any help will be greatly appreciated as always..

Cheers

Steve

Hi Steve,
You can run the pump or leave it out, as long as your fuel tank outlet is higher than your carby
Yes the wires should connect back up but the connectors might be different. The black wire is the kill switch and the red wire connects to the old Briggs wire with the diode in it. Once you connect it up and fire the motor up just check with a multimeter across the battery to check that it is charging correctly

Out of curiosity what was the actual model of the Loncin engine?

Nevermind appears to be a LC1P92F-1 engine that uses a voltage regulator.

Hi AVB, yes it's the LC1P92F-1 Engine. There is some confusion by me on the true HP of this engine as apparently engines these days are referred to by their CC rating and not HP.

It could be a 16hp engine rather than a 19hp that I first thought it was.

It was a pretty simple swap over. The only issue was my doubts on the electrical wiring due to the differences between new & old.

Also it uses a Manual Choke rather than the old throttle/choke system of old. So I added a manual choke cable.
