Hi Norm,

As an owner of one of these engines, thank you for flagging this.

Is there anything one can do to minimise the chances of this fault occurring? Or do you think it's better to do something like the Victa decomp valve if/when it happens? As I have to say I've found it an excellent engine in my limited usage of it. Good power, easy to start, pretty frugal on the fuel etc.

Thanks in advance

Hi Nick keep going with it the way it is, only worry about fitting a decomp if the need arises. I still can't pull start these machines but that is because I have no strength left. With the E/S they spin over easily, but fitting the E/S and all the little bits needed to make it work is a big job and not one I would suggest anybody try

Hi Norm,

Ah I'm sure you're underselling yourself & your prowess, like the true gent you are!

Oh well that answered my next question which was how in blazes you fitted them in the first place - so "With a LOT of trouble!" does make sense. :-)
