Thanks Norm,

I didnt like my chances at all but quite was advised the mastercut carrier was readily obtainable as it had a sales run until only a few years ago and might have stock somewhere. But its been unobtainable to purchase online.

Apparently I could source one from the UK for 77 pound.

I posted more chasing repair ideas and had considered exactly that. The other suggestion I received was use the keyed washers from the honda blade set and have them welded in. Then utilise honda bolts and blades instead.

Hi Lindsay,
I guess that is another option I hadn't thought of. I think the Honda blades you can get in the same length as the Victa ones but I don't think they are quite as heavy duty but that is irrelevant as long as they do the job. I might look at the Honda idea when I repair the next blade carrier. I have considered getting some carriers laser cut but it is a bit of messing around with getting the hump in the middle done to go over the bearing, that will require a disc welded in and getting clearance for the bolt will become an issue. Getting the half round for the Honda bolts will be easier

Ill grab a photo in the next few days but I had a look today and the honda blade set idea isnt as straight forward a replacement option.

The honda blade is the same over all dimension as the victa and yea, doesnt appear as heavy duty, however the issue is the hole position on the blade. It is set closer to the end of the blade. As a result, there is approximately 5 to 7mm of blade length beyond where the victa blade would have ended.

Of course they'd be simple enough to cut down or to have a custom set made up at a steel shop or similar but I am wanting to keep the repair as off the shelf compatible as possible. So retaining the factory blade or a straight forward bold on would be ideal. Maybe I'll purchase a set of blades for a 19inch mower versus the 21inch honda blades I have and see if theyre shorter and would suit as a bolt on replacement.

Another possible thought is have the disc pressed at a different point and have entirely new holes added to suit the honda blade set.

as a follow up, thoughts and any potential issues that can be seen running a bar blade?

It would be reasonable easy to have a small cap made to suit the bottom of the bearing that would also double as the carrier for a common place.

Generally, could a bar blade be utilised fine?

Could be done lindsay but the heavy blade carrier helps with the spinning mass. I would go with drilling new holes at 90 degrees to the existing holes and file them with a flat so you can use the Honda blades and bolts
