Another one dropped off last night, , he says it will run when it is cold but once it heats up it won't start again. I haven't seen it running so I have my doubts. I'm always a bit sceptical with this bloke because he stretches the truth a lot so everything he says I take with a grain of salt. Any thoughts

G’day Norm,

To me that looks like it’s either been run without oil or had a hard life. It might just be the angle or something but with scoring on the piston and ring that engine would need a rebuild to be serviceable in my view.

Hi Ironbark,
Saw looks like it has done no work, it has obviously been straight fueled so another one for the bin

Even if the rest of the saw is good it’s probably only worth rebuilding if it’s a pro model Stihl or Husqvarna. The other stuff sells for less than the cost of rebuilding.

Chainsaw is just some piece of Chinese rubbish, with the Stihl FS80 from the late seventies he dropped off it is about $30 for a new carby and primer bulb so it is still worth fixing
