Got an old Yamaha 600w from a deceased estate. Apparently it would never run again after the old bloke wired up the new plug

Opened it up and ... well thats an interesting way to wire a 240v plug. Without speaking ill of the dead, he probably should have stuck to watering the concrete and growing tomatos

No joke, this was how I found it - plus the fuel lines were stuffed with and the return line plumbed into the carby vent haha

I was initially thinking he may have had issues with the kill switch and maybe plugged in a blank male plug with a single wire between the 2 prongs to earth out the plug. Only problem was he crimped the wire in the side housing which earthed the red wire on its own.

The factory kill switch works perfectly...

That looks dangerous.

Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!

Not overly dangerous MF - the only voltage going through it is the spark plug voltage. But it doesn't have the current behind it - you'd get a zap, but no worse than hanging onto a spark plug.

Yes whoever was doing the work had no idea how to it properly or was an extreme penny pincher.

I am in the middle of JD 420 Tractor rewire because someone had no idea of to convert it from six volt to 12 volt. Nearly every wire is melted. And ignition system was wired much like the one shown here so maybe it is the same person that did the work or a close relative.

Currently I be at a stand still on the project for the next week as it is getting close 0F here by morning. And that without the wind chill. Yet I am lucky it is only 0F as many here are closer to -40F the next few days.

Sounds like you're living in the land of the FREE-ZING and the home of the BLIZZARD at the moment AVB.

There is no way I could survive in a climate like that, I have enough trouble putting up with Melbournes winter weather

Beats hot humid weather like we've been getting. -40 is a bit much though.
