Hey all,

Same mower that I replaced the poppet valve with. Got it running all nice, so went and started mowing the lawn. Ran over a small branch, and it got stuck a little under the mower, so I lifted the mower off and it after it went back on the ground, boom, rev overload. It is like something gave way or came unstuck. Even pulling the throttle lever to idle it is revving more than it should to mow. I checked the carb again thoroughly, all good. Is it possible a seal has finally died from the (slight) shock of the mower coming to earth again?

Hi sapper,

I usually just try the carby on another motor to make sure it's not the problem ,never has been though ,it's usually
a air vacuum leak , you can check manifold o rings first (check vac line to decomp.)but it's usually the lower crank seal leaking but if replacing one lower seal it's up to you if you change the top crank seal at the same time .

Cheers
Max.

Hi Sapper,

Possibly the air vent vacuum inlet was knocked out, spun and misaligned or damaged or blocked or vacuum hose was disconnected. This vacuum venturi inlet is located under the chassis. You can simulate this over reving to all PT or Victa 2-Stroke engine by disconnecting the vacuum hose on back cover of the carburetor. I will do videos on this one to demonstrate over reving and governor.

Cheers,
CM

Thanks guys,

Looking forward to that video carby. You don't live too far from me either, do you fix up a lot of Victa's?
