Hi guys,

Just bought myself an Olympic 500 for a bargain ($80)

Started 2nd pull, and off she took. Luckliyi was holding on to the handlebars and was able to engage the clutch.

This is my first cylinder mower and just wanted to know is there anyway to dial back the speed these things move at. This mower just wants to take off.

I've only done a couple passes in the backyard with it, trialling dialling down the revs, but it still seems to be humming along real quick.

Im probably doing something wrong lol, but thought this was the place to get the best information.

Im going to be tidying her up, and repainting. Bloody stoked with my purchase thou (wife not so much lol)

Just lay new lawn out the front and can't wait to get this on it.

I have been in contact with the person I bought the mower from and he informed me I just have to throttle down and lower the RPMs to slow down the mower.

I'll give it a go and see how we go.

I'll be starting a mini restoration on the mower too and will post updates here.

Have stripped down most of the mower and finally got the drive sprocket off after a mate fabricated up a tool to sit over the sprocket and allow us to use a rattle gun to get it off.

Using some paint stripper to clean off the old paint and will be priming it this week and getting it painted up.

Have purchased some. New decals for the for motor, these will be arriving in next couple weeks so will likely be the finishing touch on it.

Just wonder how you go about back lapping on the Olympic 500s. There is no bolt on the reel to hook a drill up to so wondering what others do as I'd like to get that done before I use it.
