I'm working on cleaning up a tiller with a Briggs and Stratton 130202-3166 engine on it. From what I understand a lot of times you can just replace parts on the carburetor to get it up and running again but that that's a bad idea if there is corrosion inside. Everything internal looks great but there is a bit of corrosion on the pipe that attaches to the fuel pick up, and another little tube coming off the bottom that I don't know what it is. Here's some photos. Does this look like something where I can just replace (or clean?) the fuel pick-up and the diaphragm etc and be headed in the right direction at least?

Pretty sure the last time I priced one of those style genuine carby it gave me a nervous eye twitch ($100+)

Part number is 492611 - seems to be some knock off carbys available

Please do check the carby bowl for porosity (small rust holes). Have seen one that would run fine at idle (eventually after starting with fuel down carby throat) but die after 30 sec full throttle as it bowl was leaky and couldn't sustain fuel use.

Do you have access to a ultrasonic cleaner

Wonderful! I don't have access to an ultrasonic cleaner but I can definitely spend the time for a few rounds of soaking and scrubbing... though I suppose that won't really get the tiny/interior parts...

Thanks for the note on the bowl (which seems to be built into the gas tank on this model) It definitely is rusty and grimy (which leads to debris that can block up the jet as well right?) And I hadn't even thought of that possibility of the gas just leaking out! However, I just looked online and it seems like the tank is no longer available..... Maybe I'll just try cleaning everything super well, test for leaking in the bowl and see where it gets me. Any suggestions on how to approach finding a reliable(ish) knock-off if it comes to that?

I have put gunked up carby's in CLR clear for 24 hrs with pretty good results.

Yes the tanks are NLA and have been for a couple years now. The last tank I got was back 2019. Even then it cost me 84 usd.

AVB, I was going to say, even a similar tank (vacujet briggs) I was quoted at 180 here in aus last year

After Briggs filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy a lot things went throw the roof. I had a fuel bowl and solenoid kit which I brought before the hike. They from being under $30 to $110. which is about $10 less than a complete carburetor they fit. Camshaft 793880 when from a retail of $60 with tappets to nearly $95 without tappets.

And now getting parts takes a long time as it seems everything I need is being back ordered.
