Hello ODK history lovers
A great Australian lawnmower maker met with a great
New Zealand lawnmower maker in the mid-1960s.

Turner Industries entered a commercial agreement with
Morrison Industries to market select Morrison rotary and
reel mowers in Australia.

These mowers were released in late 1965 for the 1966 season.

This article is about the Turner-Morrison Reel mowers sold here.
These were the 14”, 16” and 20” variants.

Note that this arrangement was a season before Victa would
enter a similar agreement with Morrison. That agreement would
result in the Victa-Morrisons … AKA … the Victa Imperials.

PART TWO – Detail
Turner gave these mowers the ‘C’ designation … for ‘cylinder’ (I guess).
The 14” machine was an original Morrison post-war design, but the
16” and 20” machines were more sophisticated and completely
different in design. They were closely based on the Ransomes Mk 7
of the late 1950s [see Related Reading].

Powered by North American Tecumseh engines, it would appear
that these were fully imported from New Zealand. The 14” machine
had a single clutch for reel and landroll; the larger machines had
dual clutches.

These Turners are rare today and I feel that reflects low sales
in the day. I have never seen a 14” Turner-Morrison and have
only recorded one auction sale of a 16” machine.

PART THREE – Operator Manual
I have found very little information on these Turner-Morrisons.
It was a surprise when member eyecue sent me an Operator
Instructions. A big thank you to him for enabling folks to better
understand Turner history and their involvement with Morrison.
