Hi Troy,

So far all looks good.

The only thing I can see being an issue is the rubberisation of the rear roller which increases the height of the sole plate from the cutting surface.

Now if you are attempting to cut Buffalo then all good, but for a super low cut on couch lawns, not so good.

Cheers,
BB.

Not going real low, will hang around the 20mm mark, as my front lawn is on a slight slope vulcanised rear roller was a must as it would slide ever so slightly before I stripped it down.

Looking good, Troy74.

I thought about the rubber rollers, if for no other reason than to cut down on the clanking as I moved it from the back part of the block to the front along the bricks!

Hi MS & Troy,

The only thing the rubber is designed for is quietness over concrete and nothing else. It's not going to do anything on the grass except tear up the edges when you turn it around, thus why they originally had rounded outer edges.

I'm not trying to burst your bubble, but this was merely another one of those buck making ideas someone came up with. The question is, why don't all the pro machines have them ??

In saying the above, the Series One 20 inch 45's had that extra 3 inch section between the two roller halves and they do nothing more than tear up the freshly cut grass when you turn the machine around as it doesn't turn due to it being at the centre of the turn around point of the mower, while one of the halves turns one way while the other turns in the opposite direction and the centre piece stands still. Not good in confined areas of the garden as you always have to take a wide arc to avoid this issue. the same will have to be done with those sharp edged rollers.

Cheers,
BB.

Hi BB,

I had a very similar discussion with the blokes at a local mower shop whom I respect, and they advised against rubberised rollers while I was doing my rebuild. No harm if you've got a nice open area, but I reckon I would have made a mess of my Zoysia patch by now with all the short, sharp turns required in there.

Still kills me every time I crunch the rollers on the bricks though. And they look the goods, that's for sure.

No problem as yet have been using my mates with a vulcanised rear roller definitely helped with grip on the slope stopping the mower sliding slightly, no problem turning the mower on cut grass . This is the reason I went ahead and vulcanised mine , in my situation with the slight slope it made a huge difference

Hi Troy,

I reckon I'd have the wife mowing the lawn if I painted my machines that colour you've chosen as she's a purple fan for sure.

I have to ask, are you also a member of the SB Restoration Page on FB ? as this trend seems to have emanated from that platform.

Cheers,
BB.

Hi Troy,

I guess I've answered my own question and found the same images on that FB page.

Cheers,
BB.

Hi MS,

yeah well................

I have started an account but not using my real name as I'm not wanting to advertise myself.

I guess this is more so for looking at stuff and not posting, especially all the News Networks and also seeing what's happening on the Model 45 scene that's just gathering more and more momentum on that platform it seems.

Cheers,
BB.

It'll look mad Troy. I do enjoy seeing different colours out there.

BB, look I'll pay it. The groups are good, even if the info isn't as readily accessible as a Forum. I think the two can exist side by side. There are also some great lawn care and garden groups on FB as well.

Hi MS,

I've always said that forums are just laid out much better for looking at information written in the past.

This site (ODK) has it all laid out exceptionally well and this way the same questions don't get asked again and again like they seem to be on FB.

From the organisational point of view this has all become apparent here due to our Admin Member CJ who is of the same opinion as myself that a tidy house is an easier one to find things in and Jack has spent countless hours cleaning threads and streamlining sub-forums so that they are much easier for new and older members to navigate.

Sadly on FB, no one will spend any time as most people on there just want to take and run and never give. It's that simple I say.

Cheers,
BB.

Light sand and a cut and polish under natural light and this is the result.

Bring on the chlorophyll stains. wink Looking very schmick.

Will you get to use it this weekend? That is the question. My grass has pretty well gone to sleep in Perth. Surely it'd still be warm enough on the Goldie for some growth.
