I bet we'll find that this seller has built up a reputable feedback over time and now turned to fraudulently selling highly desirable products at a fast rate which he has.

These are his recent past sales and tell me that these are not easy sellers,

https://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_sofindtype=0&_byseller=1&_nkw=&_in_kw=1&_ex_kw=&_sacat=0&LH_Complete=1&_udlo=&_udhi=&_samilow=&_samihi=&_sadis=15&_stpos=5090&_sargn=-1%26saslc%3D1&_salic=15&_fss=1&_fsradio=%26LH_SpecificSeller%3D1&_saslop=1&_sasl=okx493&_sop=1&_dmd=1&_ipg=200

The Garden seat along with the wall sander was "ended due to an error in the listing". This is a common way that scammers move on. I'm almost positive now that this ID is now a dead one and the seller is using another (the one that I bought the Solid State drive from) and doing the same and then will move on to another within 24 hours, he'll possibly then try a fourth ID and then disappear altogether withdrawing all the money from his account and absconding into oblivion. He'll probably pocket around $30,000 to $40 odd grand and live like a king for a year.

The plot thickens.

By the way Norm, sending you an" item sent notice" is the way that scammers buy themselves time and breathing space to get the hell out of there as buyers will sit back for about 3 to 4 weeks now never suspecting a thing.

Cheers,
BB.

Not out of fun that's for sure.

I'm sorry Norm, but sadly sometimes the old saying "if it's too good to be true it generally is".

BTW I'm also caught up in this caper as I decided to buy a 500 Gb Solid State Hard Drive from the same seller for a whole $17 and then figured it all out after that by doing some intense research on the two ID's in question.

Probably best to find out now than wait 4 weeks wondering why our stuff hasn't been delivered.

Chin up !

Cheers,
BB.

PS. I'm hoping very much that I'm wrong and that all this angst is for nothing and our stuff arrives in dribs and drabs.

Ah well was all a bit of excitement for a few days, my grandson bought (or thinks he has bought) a couple of the Makita screw guns and was thinking of getting one of the golf things. I haven't heard if my daughter bought a couple of the sanders Regards paypal having to make payouts, a couple of years ago I got scammed with a TV booster/antena thing. Last time I checked I think Paypal had 32 pages of complaints from people all around the world and if you complained by ringing Paypal direct you would end up getting your money back, if you tried using the resolution center you just got spun around in circles and I would imagine thousands of people would just give up. My message to anybody who came on the forum was to ring Paypal and don't waste your time trying any other way. I guess Paypal hate me for that.

And we have a third one putting their hat in the ring.

This one has the chainsaw, computer stuff, makita tools and makita whipper snippers, earth augers, 5 in 1 pole saws, tillers and...

A garden swing chair - now there's no excuse Norm laugh And its about $5 cheaper - win win grin

In all seriousness though, I feel that this practically confirms our suspicions - although I do sincerely hope I am wrong

Regards
Tyler

To everyone watching this thread with baited breath,

Yesterday I received a "Sent" notice from eBay last night regarding the hard drive I bought as a test.

Still not holding my breath though that it will actually arrive.

Cheers,
BB.

It's "Official" I've been scammed !

eBay has de-registered the sellers from whom some of us bought the various items which included the chainsaws, Hard Drives and Makita tools.

So the old saying "if it's too good to be true then it probably is" very much rings true here.

I've received confirmation from eBay today that one of the ID's have been canned and if you bought something good luck if you get it, but if not seek compensation from your payment provider, as such that's PayPal. I can see a barrage of claims coming on.

Also I feel it's only a matter of time until all the other ID's that seem to be involved in the same situation will be de-registered.

BB.

****UPDATE****

Well I decided to try the eBay resolution centre via PayPal and put in a claim for my $17.99 HP SSD 500Gb Hard Drive.

I gave the option of wanting a refund and oddly within 10 minutes the refund was granted, no quibbles at all.

Admittedly my seller had been de-registered the day after I made the purchase and as such eBay would be totally aware of what went down in this instance, thus the quick refund and resolution to this scam.

Cheers,
BB.

Hi BB, did you go through ebay or did you go directly through paypal? Do you think that your complaint to ebay was the reason the seller was deregistered quickly? I see the seller I bought through now has 11 negative feedback in the last week, seeing all the earlier feedback was 100% When I view their details they are still listed as an ebay top seller.

Hi Norm,

I think something else was going on before I got to it as they normally don't work that swiftly.

I originally went into PayPal and opened up the transaction and then scrolled to the bottom where you'll see the link to the "Resolution Centre". This link actually takes you back to the eBay Resolution Centre.

I clicked on that and it let me open up a case even though the delivery date had not yet come about.

In the reason for refund box, I stated that I suspected no item had been sent since the seller was de-registered and as such this would've rung alarm bells at their end with a de-registered seller being involved and thus they would've simply known what was happening with that seller ID and simply refunded me my funds plus GST.

With the fact your seller is still afloat but obviously not for very much longer I suspect, this will not allow a refund to occur until after the due dates of the saws involved.

If they de-register the ID in the meantime then you to will get an instant refund as they like to keep buyers happy as that's really what makes them their money.

No buyers equals no income for eBay.

Cheers,
BB.

Hi again Norm,

Personally I would try and do a refund claim like I've done as it's pretty evident of what's happening with all that sudden negative feedback.

In the reason for refund box I would simply explain that you suspect this seller to be a scammer as no tracking information was supplied. This was one of the reasons why eBay fully refunded me. This fact is what they gave for their actual reasoning for giving me the refund.

That account you bought from was groomed with glowing feedback for some time to give it some credibility and then they applied the "BIG STING" and cleared out with all the cash, thus why no one has received a reply after 20 attempts of contact etc.

Cheers,
BB.

BB,
one thing that is obviously suss is that in among the recent spate of negative feedback is a few more positive ones, obviously trying to make it not look too bad, then you look at sellers other products and it is a big zero

Hi Norm,

Now its really starting to ramp up, the Negative Feedback that is, 28 Negatives and climbing. Everyone is now starting to work out they've been done over by a system that is full of flaws. What really blows me away is that eBay haven't de-registered the seller you've dealt with as I'm sure that ID is part of the same syndicate that my seller was involved in.

I'd be putting my claim into PayPal now as eBay is about to roll out it's new payment system which will eradicate PayPal primarily as their main form of payment.

In all the years eBay have been indoctrinating folks into using PP, now they are going to advise against that. Funny how things change and is good one day then we're told it's bad the next.

Cheers,
BB.

Hi BB,
I haven't made a claim yet as when I look it up it is claimed to be still in transit and I can't lodge a claim till the 16th. Only other way I could try would be to ring ebay but I guess they will refer me back to the fact it is still in transit. When I last looked up the seller a few days ago he was still rated as an ebay top seller.

Hi Norm,

Just shows how much the eBay system relies on these Asian sellers to make them their money, 28 Negs and they still show up as top rated, beats me.

Well tomorrows the 16th and as such the system will allow you to do the claim back along with everyone else caught up in this scam that's been burnt.

I'm pretty sure it'll be a quibble free claim as they'll know what's gone down.

Cheers,
BB.

It is all good so far, I got my money for the 2 that I bought on Sunday, the other people who bought them are expecting the money to be refunded in the next few days. 2 others are overseas at the moment and won't be claiming till they return So far it all looks good, would have been much better if the saws had arrived. I'm still out of pocket a few hundred dollars at the moment as I paid for all the ones other people bought on my behalf

Hi itforsenior,

So far 92 Negative feedback ratings and rising every day for the original seller that set up this scam. He's down to a 61% feedback score.

All I can say is if eBay are so slack in how they do business then they deserve everything they are copping as only they are the losers in all this.

BTW this seller groomed two ID's to do this with and the second ID was de-registered really quickly, why the first one wasn't beats me and to this day it's still considered an active account, not that anyone would ever buy from it in the future anyway.

Cheers,
BB.
