Many council 'transfer stations' in Vic will accept limited [i.e. non-commercial] quantities of used engine oil for disposal, however they usually charge for this.
Maximum container size is usually 20L, and often they will keep the container too.

And the rate seems to vary a bit - Monash Waste Transfer Station will accept up to 30L at a time for free, but above that it's $2.50/L.
