Well there's one of the Golden 3 you haven't mentioned that you've got and that's fuel.

If you've got the other two, Compression and Ignition that's a good thing as it's the ignition part that eventually dies, thus then most mowers get put out to pasture.

A good clean out of the carburetor is essential with 2 strokes as they gum up severely if not used regularly.

I feel you may have answered your own question in the above post.

While I'm writing, may I ask how much you paid for this Model 17 ?
