Bought an absolutely stunning restoration from fellow member John A earlier this week.
It wouldn't, however roll backwards. The roller closest to the chains locks up if pulled backwards.
I thought it could be that the reel hasn't been set (it was touching the bed knife) and so wound it right up to have a go at setting it. I also note that the reel was VERY difficult to manually wind around with my hand. Compared to my Dad's, which has recently been set and was easy to whirl around.
I then thought it could have been a tensioning issue, but couldn't budge the plastic tensioner, nor move the pad which sits behind the large sprockets.
I'm now wondering if it's something to do with a clutch adjustment. If the clutch is in the disengaged position and I roll the reel forward with my hand, the whole machine moves forward (I.e. chains engage and back rollers move forward).
Would be so grateful for any help! I can't afford to go to the Mower Center coz the wife is cross enough that I bought the mower ! Ha ha ha
Thanks all!
