Yes, I think the Pace edger was short-lived - as Pace would be itself -
being shut down by Victa within a couple of years.
I must say that I am amazed at your modern version - with tubular
handle and plastic wheel. I can't believe any of these would have
sold in OZ.
The earliest attachment (for a manual push mower) I have found is 1912.
But purpose-built edgers date from way back.

Clive Gravett, from the
OLC and the
Budding Foundation wrote a
great article in GB90. His research suggests that the edger pre-dates the lawnmower!!!
