Well here is testament that use by dates are all rubbish if you store things correctly.

And the date today is the 2nd day of January 2017 and I opened it this morning.

Well I'm still here and have no issues as I'm still typing away.
So the moral to the story is that if you keep most things stored at the back of the fridge so that it stays at a constant temperature it will stay fine for many months past its use by date.
I did the same experiment with a carton of milk at a Service Station I used to work at and kept it well hidden at the back of the cold room and pulled it out 6 months later only to find it was still OK for consumption.
I have always said that these dates are a marketing ploy by the companies to simply throw out stock that you and I pay for in the long run.
