I should add, that the only time I've had cause to modify this procedure, with my ancient 1970's Echo CS601VL saw, was when I was using up some old [~5 years!] fuel mix.

That required half, rather than full, opening of the choke after 'first fire', so it would run well enough to warm up. Fresh fuel mix - all back to normal. cool
