You raise an interesting point here, prd. Use of the 'HD8' designation for the 'old red' Greenfields is really just a habit we've got into at ODK, as a shorthand moniker for the 'second model' series. And that may not be quite accurate! That said, far from all of the 'third model' yellow 'Super 8's' we've seen have the HD8 decal on them, either.

The red machine pictured in this thread is apparently the very rare 'first model' Greenfield, going by its design features.
It's quite possible that the dual rear wheels are a factory option - they are mentioned in ads for the second and third model series, but are not shown in the IPL for either of those models.

Well, the dog clutch setup wasn't there so much for easy detachment, but to make it possible to disengage the cutter drive. We had one of those red painted T-piece PTO mounts in stock for years - it probably went to scrap when the business was sold. It's all history now anyway...
