Hi
I have a Masport XRS60 mower with a B & S motor. Ive just cleaned it and suchlike but there seems to be a return spring (?) missing on the air throttle control. Engine is easy to start and runs like a train...but I cant regulate the engine revs so it just sits on max revs. There is a (yellow) spring that regulates the butterfly valve opening, but then there's nothing to close it off. I pulled the mower apart and traced the linkage to a rod that goes into the engine crankcase, but again there isn't any return pressure to regulate the carby.
I can lower the revs by manually manipulating the butterfly throttle, but as soon as I let it go it just flips back to max revs.
I could probably jury-rig a spring to do the work, but it still doesn't solve the problem of why the linkages don't work properly.
Any ideas?
