Recently I aquired two J.A.P 16h engines by the year code stamped on the main body they were of 1942 vintage (16H was also made by Villiers after their take over of J.A.P). These two engines had never been used and we're still in their off line state cork bungs in the spark plug holes carbs masked up etc. They both have meg esters on them. From what I can make out J.A.P only manafactured engines during the war years for the government. The next thing is both engines are as all 16Hs two strokes and both are for T.V.O use start with two stroke and switch over to T.V.O.In my readings all J.A.P 16h engines were manafactured for Landmaster for use on their L150 rotovator These were I think assembled in Australia and Celon. I have a couple of L150 machines on is 1958 the other is 1960 that is going by the J.A P markings I can not tell by the landmaster markings. We're these engines destined for one of the small war effort motor bikes and never used and so bought out of store after the war and assembled in their presant form with T.V.O specs.for perhaps an overseas assembler. One was cleaned up and believe it or not started.when I have time and can get to my computer I will carry on with this story and post some photos. It makes sense that a T.V.O two stroke would need a good ignition spark so was the megester developed for T.V.O two strokes. Then when petrol became more readily available just used up on any thing?
Your site has more info main on the megester than I have found so far In the UK nobody seems to know much about this strange 16H.
