I'm one of the Greenfield brigade. Got an old '80s Tractor 8 with some sentimental value (as silly as that sounds) and bought a HD8 a couple of years ago but I have only seen it once. it's still at my parents place 700km away. I'll get it home one day. Bought it at auction on a whim.

I've been reading through the threads about the chronology of the model. It's confusing at best. If others are interested (and if it hasn't been done before) I'm starting to have a crack at deciphering the serial number from this era. It's such a long number (7 or 8 digits - and it varies!) that I figure there must be code information in there that might be useful.

If others think it's worthwhile, what I'd need is from y'all HD8 owners (and other models up to perhaps the early 80's?) to send me your serial numbers and photos or details of your machine so we can try piecing this together (if there is anything to piece together).

Number on a HD8 is in the top of the main longitudinal member on the ships left side adjacent the pedal ( or it is on mine, at least). By the time they built my Tractor 8 they had moved it to the front of the machine and it became a 4 digit number.

Perhaps we will find that being such a small company they were not exactly 100% organised in they way they did things- but we can try.

I'll send photos of my jalopies shortly- when I figure out how😜
