Hi Steve, I haven't done anything with the cracked deck at this stage. I was lucky enough to find another machine going cheap for parts with a good deck, so I've made one good mower out of the two. I still have the cracked deck sitting here but now that I don't have a need for it, it's probably not worth fixing.
