After two months I have finished doing up my
Victa Self Propelled V198 VC160 Motor 1976/78
I have a Victa Powerplus Self propelled mower, purchased in 1981, model number WV 155 AO.
Engine runs first start and is very smoothly, but I cannot get the clutch to drive the back wheels.
I have a new clutch cone, new drive wheels and a new clutch cable - all correct parts from Bruce at Outdoor king who did a great job is sourcing the bits.
If I have the mower not running the mower moves easily frontwards and back and I can move the mower around the axis of the rear axle son the independent real wheel clutches seem ok.
When I engage the clutch lever I can pull the mower back but can't push it forward and the gearbox locks it to the motor. This seems back to front. Shouldn't it lock when I pull it back??
With the mower running when I push the clutch lever down as usual I get no drive!. If I lift the back wheels up I am getting forward rotation pf the drive wheels but there is no real power to push the mower. All adjustments of the clutch cable take up point or the position of the actuating arm on the gear box don't fix it.
Some help would be greatly appreciated.
