The two wires that go into the carby are active & negative. When they connect together they short out the spark to the plug. woot

Try leaving one out of the carby (make sure that it does not touch the frame) and see if you have spark by holding the spark plug next to the cylinder. If you have spark then the wires are touching when you put them in the carby. cheers2
