Tommy,
I would be using the 32:1 or 25:1 which is recommended by Homlite. As to the mixture of the H & L needle the procedure is that you set the L first then H last. When setting the H you bring it to when the machine peaks then back off 1/8 th of a turn.

Also check your cylinder for light scoring because if you have been using a 50:1 mix it might be to light and caused the cylinder to be damaged.
