Hi Ian,
Your machine is a Series 2 (twin rail engine deck) 17" Model 45 which was first introduced as far as I know, in roughly 1974. It would have been fitted with an orange painted 3 HP Briggs and Stratton.
The first black painted Briggs appeared on the Rover 45's after the Scott Bonnar was dropped from Rover-Scott Bonnar name long after the take-over. wink
