Thanks Joe, for the heads up mate, but as you know, I have a Model 17 Supercut electric myself...and never had to remove the reel....I would hazard a guess that it removes in a clockwise direction (left hand thread) which is the opposite to its direction of travel.
My advice would be to give it a try....
gently and see how you go....please let us know how you get on, mate.
