You have three solutions regarding the bump head and they are:

1. On the guard is a cutter which cuts the nylon to the required length and if it is blunt the nylon will break.

2. You are using old nylon from Bunnings or from a hardware store which is not flexible.

3. The eyelets on the bump head are damaged.

I have used bump heads for many years and don't normally have issues with the nylon breaking unless it is one of the three things above. cheers2
