WOW a good old machine. the general rule of thumb when scarifying is to do it in a diamond pattern and you only just want to be cutting in to the lawn so your only cutting in to the grass. i will say though ive never seen those blades on a scarifyer. main thing is jaust take it light over the top then run the mower over it to pick up the thatch.
