G'day again cutters. My Masport Grassmaster did its bearings in for the first time after 12 years hard service. The Grassmaster is a smaller version of the old 'council' walk behind slasher-mowers. The big ones with two little front wheels were known as 'Shiremasters'. All of this range does an absolutely blinding job on cutting grass (not to be confused with lawn).
To complete the mental picture, mine is yellow, run by a 8hp Briggs, is self propelled by two small drive wheels running against the back tyres. It would have about a 25 inch deck.
My problem; the cutter shaft bearings went on me and I need a diagram or experience that will let me know what circlips are in place and whether the big stop lug on the underside (closest to deck) is part of the shaft or whether it stays in place. I can't yet figure if all the shaft and/or bearings are withdrawn through the top of the deck or the bottom.
The local mower shop threw out its old diagramatic books on these mowers, expecting the info to be on line. Not to be the case!!!
Thank you in advance for any ideas or leads.
