You have to be careful.
Sure some of the genuine belts are pricey. But they are worth every cent.
My old man has a 40" ariens. A regular 'A' section belt will last less than a day on the cutter deck on it. It gets hot, deforms and once its thrown itself off once you have no hope, it will end up in little bits.
I got him a kevlar wrapped belt but havent been able to test it much as the grass isnt growing (no rain in south west vic for more than 4 months).
Google the belt part number they gave you. Thats how i got the belt sizes for the ariens. You should be able to refference it to a stens part or similar and that will give you the measurement in inches.
Say its a 30" belt it will be A30 when you are at the shop to order it ask them for an AK30, or A30K that should get you a kevlar belt. They are blue in colour and theres is no exposed rubber on the sides of the belt.
On dads 1440H Airens it is so easy to change the belts for the deck that a kid could do it. You can drop the deck off in a bout 2 mins. So its not so bad for us to mess about with finding a cheaper belt that will go the distance.
But with your cub cadet, if its not easy to swap the belts the real deal could be worth the money.
The belt on dads Rover Ranger gave up the ghost. I got a new one for it and it took over half a day to fit it. You need to unbolt all sorts of stuff under the machine to get the belt on. Stuff right in the middle with nut and bolt so you are hugging the motor skinning knuckles, a job i would rather not do again. I imagine a rancher would be just as bad.
