Very common issue, there was a persistant problem with the twin coil that often saw it supply a weak rear spark, and eventually none.
The problem dates as far back to the times of the twin, as it was one of the reasons it was quickly superceded with the supreme.
The supremem was advertised as having a "Revised Coil"
