Thanks for those pics, Greg, they go a long way toward documenting the machine. I was struck by how well the mower seems to be engineered, except for the stamped floor pan which serves unreinforced as a chassis, and the very narrow rear track, which are not commensurate with the rest of the design. I'd have thought you could redesign it fairly easily into a much stronger one, by welding deep longitudinal rectangular tubes along the sides of the floor pan, but there isn't much room for them on the inside of the back wheels. You might be able to move the wheel hubs outboard, though.
I recognise that you aren't in the business of doing that, because you wouldn't be able to sell the machine after modifying it.
Overall the mower reminds me of certain conversions of old VW Beetles into beach buggies. The conversions were supposed to include bolting square tubes along the underside of the floor pan, but some people omitted them, with unfortunate results.
