Hi all, must be getting better at this online gig as think I have found the right spot to post.
My MS 310 grabbed a ring today and I am gutted. My questions are as follows
Can another cylinder/piston/ring set of larger capacity be fitted to the existing 310 crankcase?
What is the difference between a chinese import and genuine replacement kit?
What would other users do in my situation?

Chainsaw has only got about 50 hours on it in total
It did get a hot smell before I heard the ticking noise/spark plug colour supports this ( leaned out obviously but as per usual the fuel was correctly mixed LOL)
just had new bar and chain
Lots of sentimental value to this saw and would rather repair then replace
Have already removed engine from saw so can rebuild myself so would probably be looking at a parts cost only
