Does anyone know how to work out much from victa engine numbers, i have been taking log of all mine at the moment, and i cant work out any stable pattern, some are longer, some shorter, and some appear to have the year while others dont.
All i can work out so far is that, the series 70 engines before 76 seem to have the year in the number (i have one that i was sure was 1973, and it had 73 in the number when i checked, same for a 71, 72, 74 and 2 more 73's) but then later in the 70's, the number moved to the rear of the crank, got harder to read, and now does not appear to have a year reference.
the earliest ones (my Specials' etc) have much shorter numbers, but with no discernable year value.
Anyone got any idea how victa worked out the engine numbers?
