That's a good question about the working temp of the seal and maybe someone has the answer. If I get a chance I will check with my supplier and see if they can put some light onto the matter.
I normally use OXY acetylene to heat stuff as a last resort and when you use that you need to replace seals because of the extreme heat generated.
