It can be a can of worms and if you don't have parts to mix and max so you can fault find it can be hard. My first starting point is a bit of starter fluid in the throat of the carby. If you get an attempt to start then you can say you have enough spark for it to run and it also tells you it most likely hasn't been straight fueled. Then you can assume that it is a carby problem so you can concentrate on that
