Update:
After much swapping back and forth of primer caps and other configurations between the edger and the mower to try and narrow it down, I decided to change the O ring to a new one even though the one already on there looked fine . Turned the fuel on and left it for a few minutes and no leaks. I've read other posts on here of similar issues prior to posting and the answer often was the needle but looks like my needle was working.
Not tried to crank it yet but will do that tomorrow and will give another update.
