I have a Kohler 7000 series 20 HP motor on a Rover RZT42
The battery will not have enough power to crank it
I charge the battery right up to around 12+ volts, and it cranks beautifully.....but it slowly drains away and does not hold a charge.
Checking with the meter, after I have charged the battery, it shows 13 + volts running.
I googled and saw references to check my rectifier or there maybe a power leakage.
My problem is that when I look for it externally on the motor, I cannot see the rectifier.
I am figuring, and others tell me, to undo the top engine surround cover and it will be under there?
Can anyone confirm that for me please?
The sticker on the engine says Kohler 7000 series 20 HP KT 715-725cc
