And I agree about the old briggs - I have a few of the old briggs myself - 79 Victa monaro, 80 storebrand along with some early 90s Masports with quantum 35's, 50's and classic 35's
The downhill spiral is increasingly noticeable from the turn of the century onwards
After that, they get the job done, but never shake that it is built to a price
