I did read somewhere that you do the purge then when the transaxle is in the mower you try to cycle the drive controls again (forward and reverse) while the mower is lifted to see if it improves responsiveness. This can help redistribute the oil and potentially remove trapped air.

The instructions above say, NOTE: It may be necessary to repeat these steps in the vehicle to fully purge the IHT. but no mention
of lifting the mower off the ground at the back,. I'd lift the mower off the ground to purge.

Not sure if this helps as I've never needed to fix Hydro Gear - 310-0500 Transaxle..

I'm not saying that installing front brakes won't work, but you need to understand how changing one component will affect another that wasn't set up to handle the extra load

Increased Stress on Steering Components: The addition of quad bike brakes may lead to increased braking torque being transmitted to the steering components (front end components). This can accelerate wear.

I think your all over it Terry. Axle ends and Wheel 1 all look to be good. Wheel 2 on the other hand appears to be chewed out as you described. I didn’t notice it from the outside, but I can clearly see the difference now between the two wheels now. I’ve attached pictures so other can see it also.

All gears appear to be in good condition. I was surprised to hear your assessment of the brass gears condition being acceptable but if your happy then I’m happy to reuse it. I did however notice that the axle assembly has a fair amount of side-to-side movement in it where the center gears are. Is that normal?

Just to note Briggs took over the Murray line but not the Peerless transmissions which Husqvarna did not providing parts for the older transaxles.
